Earlier this week, I received a phone call that reminded me exactly why I love what I do—and why I love where we live.
It started with a showing at one of my listings here in Gaylord. The buyer’s agent, who primarily works in the hustle and bustle of the Twin Cities, called me afterward. He wasn’t just calling to talk business; he was genuinely blown away.
“I can’t believe what your money can buy out here,” he told me. But it wasn’t just about the price tag. He told me that after the showing, he actually called his wife and said, “Maybe we should get away from the noise. I just visited the most adorable town.”
To be honest, this conversation isn’t uncommon. I hear it over and over again from agents and buyers coming from the Metro. The first thing they do is take a deep breath, look around, and say, “Wow… I can’t believe how peaceful it is out here.” We ended up talking for 20 minutes about the Sibley County draw. He mentioned his drive back, stopping in Henderson for a bite to eat. He was so captivated by Main Street that he popped into the local barbershop just to compliment the architecture.
When I told him that my family has been farming this same land since the mid-1800s—land my great-great-grandparents purchased directly from the railroad—he was silenced. To him, that kind of deep-rooted history and community is a “showstopper.”
In the city, life moves fast. But here, we have the “Good Life.” We have roots that go back generations, neighbors who know your name, and a level of peace and quiet that you just can’t put a price on.
And the best part of the story? His clients saw exactly what he saw. They’re officially our newest neighbors.
Welcome home.
